Reminder: Call for Participation closes March 15 for 2011 Grace Hopper Conference!

Hello all,

Below is a message from BJ Wishinsky, the Communities Program Manager of Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, regarding the 2011 Grace Hopper Conference.

Thanks,
Beibei

--------------------------
The next Grace Hopper Celebration will take place from November 8 - 12, 2011 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. Don't miss this opportunity to speak at the conference!

This year's theme "What if..." recognizes that innovation in technology arises from the question What if? A culture of technology that encourages participation and inquiry from a diverse workforce leads to greater levels of innovation. Submissions are encouraged that answer the question What if? The submission deadline is March 15, 2011. Notifications on submissions will be sent out by May 17, 2011

Submissions on both technical and professional topics are encouraged. The Grace Hopper Conference committee is requesting submissions that reflect the conference theme "What If" in the areas of innovation within a company, from academia, or from individual contributors. Technical submissions that cross disciplines and other boundaries are encouraged.

Recommendations to anyone who wants to participate:

1. Your subject should not be something specific to your organization.
2. If you have a panel - it needs to span across organizations - not 5 people from the same company discussing an issue in their company. Combining academics and industry or interdisciplinary discussions are great.
3. We are encouraging submissions that promote diversity and International participation.
4. Avoid anything that sounds like an infomercial.
5. A submission in line with the theme of the conference "What If?" would be ideal.

Proposals may be submitted in the following categories:
• Birds of a Feather (BOFs) Call for Participation
• New Investigators Papers Call for Participation
• Panels, Workshops and Presentations Call for Participation
• PhD Forum Call for Participation
• Posters and SRC Posters Call for Participation

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is a program of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (http://www.anitaborg.org/) and is co-presented with the Association for Computing Machinery.
